James Parker

James Parker is a 20-year sports business and educational professional. As a true pioneer in the youth sports space, James was recruited and asked to be the Director of Athletics & Student Activities for Alexandria City Public Schools in order to rebuild the brand of T.C. Williams High School which was portrayed in the movie Remember the Titans.

Prior to joining Alexandria City Public Schools, James served 18 years (2000-2018) as Director of Sports and Sports Manager of Boy’s & Men’s Basketball for the Amateur Athletic Union which is the largest youth sports organization in the country. In these roles, James was intimately involved in new business development, acquisition of strategic partnerships, managing championship caliber event operations, building brand awareness, integration of new technology and staying on top of new trends in the youth sports marketplace.

Over his illustrious career, James has worked in several capacities with the International Basketball League, NBA Pre-Draft Camp, Orlando Magic, the Arena Football League and Old Dominion University. He worked for the International Basketball League’s Richmond Rhythm during its inaugural season and was an instrumental piece of their championship run during their first season.

Currently James is active in the community serving as a member of the Board of Directors of the Amateur Athletic Union, American Public University’s (APU) Sport and Health Sciences advisory board member, a member of National Intercollegiate Athletic Administrators Association, Positive Coaching Alliance Mid-Atlantic Board, and is a member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Incorporated.
