Our Staff

Rashida Joiner comes to Positive Coaching Alliance after nearly a decade of work in the education nonprofit sector, particularly advocating for education equity in under-resourced areas in the DC and Maryland region. Most recently she was the Capital Region Program Manager for Network for Teaching Entrepreneurship, where she managed the overall program implementation, evaluation, and relationships with various stakeholders in underserved communities across Maryland, Virginia, and Washington DC, while supporting school districts and teachers in DC, Maryland and Virginia as they taught an Entrepreneurship curriculum to their students, helping them create their own businesses. Prior to that, Rashida was a Program Manager at Playworks where she supported schools and administrators in creating positive school culture and climate through sports and play.

Rashida has extensive community organizing experience having worked with district and corporate partners, enjoys program research, data collection and analysis around positive school culture, and has led numerous professional development trainings with various audiences. She joins PCA as the Director, Community Impact (Racial Equity Initiative), where she will be responsible for implementing and overseeing our national racial equity initiative including the research (sports equity audits) and initial community organizing efforts in new target cities across the country, leading advocacy efforts to raise awareness of the sports equity gap, building a national strategy to recruit more coaches in low-income communities of color, and supporting our Community Impact Department's evaluation efforts.

When Rashida isn’t working, she is coaching girls varsity high school basketball at Saint Vincent Pallotti High School in Laurel, MD. She also enjoys traveling and spending time with her fur babies - her labradoodle Beaux, and her mini-goldendoodle Berkley.
